The last guy said “I believe rap is the death rattle in the throat of a dying culture” that’s absurd. They need to be reminded of
Romans 14:14
“I know, with confidence in the Lord Jesus, that nothing is unclean in and of itself. But to him who considers anything to be unclean, it is unclean to him.”
A certain genre of music is not sinful in itself, it’s the sinner that uses it in a sinful way. They’ve probably never heard CHH. Christian Hip-Hoppers aren’t doing this music to fit in with the world. This music isn’t evil, they aren’t trying to make redeem hip hop music and make it Christian, because its music, not a person. People shouldn’t see it, or anything as unclean in itself. Maybe people say no thank you to Christian Hip-Hop and say they don’t like that style of music, but maybe if they had heard it with a positive Christian message they would think differently. And they’ve never even heard CHH. This type of view really annoys me, but I do think its quite extreme and that the average Christian doesn’t think like this.
“Music is like a knife. You can cut a tomato, or stab someone with it.” – Keith Green.
Yes, these positions are ridiculous and out of touch. Now I know what it is like for Jesus to have been in touch with pious religious leaders of his day. The Great Commission in Matthew 28:19 says nothing about HOW to preach the Gospel – it says go do it. Christian rap is VERY effective in preaching the Gospel. We’ve seen it first hand here at Jam the Hype – people from prison saying how they have come to know the Lord and been encouraged through this ministry, for example.
My Name is Jordan.
I am a pastor now.
My life was changed by christian rap. The lyrics are a daily commitment to crucify my flesh, and live free of lust. These guys are speaking of what they know NOTHING. They need to go away.
Jordan123456789 Thank you for this Jordan! And it’s for reasons that you mentioned that we do what we do…we know this music has the ability to change lives. We wanted to post the video to show people that there are plenty of people out there who disregard the CHH genre and that we need to pray for them. It’ll also help us to be better defend our stance and seek Biblical reference that’ll point in the right direction.
Thank you again for your comment!
