In 2001 he got connected with Canton Jones, a now-veteran artist whose music is a mix of hip-hop and gospel, who also went to his church. As Jones’ career grew, Milliyon had the aspirations to be like him and reach more people with his music. In the early 00s, Milliyon’s career also grew and he was able to share the stage with many prominent gospel artists.
“I got to see the world and I got to see ministry in a different scope.”
Milliyon did a lot of touring with Canton Jones, and saw that what was more important than making good music was the impact it could make in the lives of listeners. In 2008, Milliyon got signed to CAJO International, Jones’ record label and released his first album.
Before he was called Milliyon, his artist name was K-Bizzy and his mission was to reach one million souls with his music. He had a couple songs that reached such large audiences, and knew he needed to change his mindset.
He and Jones came up with the name Milliyon (a made-up word) to be “a number that can not be totaled, tallied or counted.” Milliyon wants to reach an immeasurable number of people with the message of God’s love, hope, and grace that he has found in a relationship with Jesus Christ.
