“I grew up in a single parent household. My father was a drug dealer and a pimp. He was shot three times in the head when I was in fifth grade. My mom struggled to make ends meet.”
Sacramento, California Christian hip-hop artist Milliyon says that God has been with him through all the ups and downs in life and believes that God has been very good to him. “I’m not supposed to be where I am right now… I’m not supposed to be living an awesome life, but [I am] simply because God loves me that much and I believe that has gotten me to where I’m at.”
Milliyon started rapping at the age of fourteen.
“My mom bought me a Bone Thugz N Harmony CD and she thought it was Christian because it had a cross on the front.”
When he heard how the artists rap, he looked up and tried to write down the lyrics so he could rap along with them. Through that, Milliyon realized that he had the ability to rap.
“Every since then, I’ve wanted to do that.”
He started making music at his church in Atlanta, Georgia, in 1999 and had a passion for it. Through his church’s rap ministry, Milliyon was introduced to the world of Christian hip-hop.
